Licensed Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Non-Licensed Individuals May Enroll

East Greenwich, RI 鈥 Dr. Douglas H. Sherman, Senior Vice President and Provost at New England Institute of Technology (性视界传媒), announced that the college will offer a new Associate in Science Degree program in Paramedic Technology beginning October, 2015. This new program prepares individuals for careers as pre-hospital care providers for individuals needing medical attention. Students with an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license, as well as those individuals who need to obtain an EMT license, may apply.

Paramedics work in the fast-paced world of emergency medicine in rescue vehicles and emergency rooms as well as in doctors’ offices and other health care facilities. Paramedics focus on quality healthcare by providing for the needs of their patients while advocating and educating patients, families and communities to take proactive measures to ensure a healthy lifestyle.

The Paramedic Technology program has been designed to offer non-licensed students the opportunity to earn an EMT license in a separate preliminary quarter. These students must then successfully complete the EMT licensure exam by the third quarter in order to continue with the Paramedic Technology program. Throughout the curriculum, students engage in clinical and laboratory experiences to complement classroom learning. Graduates of the Paramedic Technology program are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician paramedic level exam (NREMT exam).

Sherman stated, 鈥淣ew England Tech鈥檚 Paramedic Technology program provides enhanced training to licensed EMT鈥檚. These individuals may now earn an Associate in Science degree in Paramedic Technology affording them the opportunity to later pursue an advanced degree in Health/EMS Management or other health sciences.鈥
